Speaking of Eira, a question regarding her: is the dark patch under her eyes a birthmark, a general facial feature of her species/race, some kind of fashion /cosmetic thing (tattoo, eyeshadow, magic make-up…), or is she just an established insomniac?
It is a facial feature of her species! The Serinn are verrrrry loosely based off of Phoenix mythologies (go figure), so I pull specific color schemes/patterns from real birds for them. Eira’s color scheme comes from spotted doves.
